Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a travel nurse? Each month, we will feature a new Traveler of the Month who was selected by one of our recruiters.
Meet Amanda H., our next Traveler of the Month!
When did you become a nurse and why?
I became a nurse in 2001. I wanted to become a nurse because I have always had a desire to help those in need, but I wanted a career that would challenge me and push me out of my comfort zone.
What made you go into travel nursing?
I live in a very rural area and opportunities at the time were limited. I was confident in my critical thinking skills but wanted more chances to learn on a larger scale. I began traveling in 2004.
What has been your favorite location for travel nursing so far and why?
My favorite location is my current assignment in Denver, Colorado. I truly get to be a nurse working with such a diverse and complex community.
What is your favorite thing about travel nursing?
Everywhere you go the people are the same with just different names and faces, but the experience and the culture of each community leaves me with the most amazing friends, resources and sense of accomplishment.
What advice can you give others who are interested in travel nursing?
Be honest! Your journey is what you make it!! Go in with an open mind and embrace the experience. Your name and your skills are your reputation so do your job well and be transparent with your company and client. Create your way!
