Favorite’s Volunteer Committee organizes volunteer opportunities for our employees throughout the year. From Blood Drives, to local animal shelters, to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, this committee strives to make our community a better place.
Giving Tuesday is a day for people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. This year, we’re celebrating this global holiday by spotlighting our incredible Volunteer Committee who help make a difference in our communities. Read on to learn about a few of the members on this committee and why they love volunteering.
Danny is a Senior Recruiter in our Travel Department and joined Favorite’s volunteer committee back in 2016. As a co-chair of the committee, Danny helps lead quarterly meetings, plan the volunteer events, and suggest and review new ideas for the committee.
“So many things that we take for granted are not a normality for some families. Not everyone can afford the basic necessities to live their own lives happily, so being able to reach out and help in a small way and, in turn, make a HUGE impact on someone’s life is just a gift that keeps on giving!”
Alex, Talent Acquisition Manager in our Direct Hire department, has been a part of the Volunteer Committee ever since she started at Favorite in 2015. Alex has organized the company’s volunteer efforts at The Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City for the past couple of years and loves being involved in the community and giving back to those in need.
“My favorite volunteer memory is actually one of the very first things I was involved in when I started with the company. In the Fall of 2015, we did Habitat for Humanity and it was so fun to work as a team with all different people within Favorite and help build someone their dream home. It was a great day. I also always love when we go to Ronald McDonald and cook meals for the families. They are always so appreciative and it’s such an easy way to make their lives a little easier when they’re dealing with so much.”
Jackie also works in our Travel department as an Onboarding Manager and is the co-chair of events such as Rose Brooks and Santa Comes to Favorite. Jackie makes volunteering a priority in her personal life and brings a positive energy to the committee.
“I believe that volunteering is vitally important to organizations and groups to increase their outreach efforts and provide critical support. Volunteering provides an opportunity to not only bond with friends, co-workers and family, but working together for the greater good fosters an atmosphere of accomplishment and community. I have been volunteering for over 45 years and served from being a ground-floor volunteer to being the president of several groups. My personal mission statement for my life has always been to make a positive difference in the lives of those I touch every day. Volunteering is one way I honor that mission.”
Kris is another co-chair of Favorite’s volunteer committee and is also the Manager of Training and Development in our National Operations Center. Kris loves being part of such a wonderful, giving group.
“If I had to choose just one, I’d have to say without a doubt Rose Brooks is my favorite event. I look forward to the holidays because that means I get to go be a part of something special for so many moms and kids. Favorite has the privilege of bringing Santa to the kids, along with gifts for the families, treats and hopefully a couple hours of distraction from their immensely difficult reality. These women and children are so deserving and the joy they have is inspiring! Ronald McDonald House, Harvesters and the Blood Drive are other favorites!”
